Hair loss can be traumatic for both men and women. If you have experienced hair loss, you may be ready for a change. If so, you need to be smart about your decision. The wonderful technology of the SmartGraft system, paired with shave-less FUE, (follicle unit extraction) reduces the time you spend on a hair restoration procedure by one-third and increases the effectiveness of the transplantation remarkably.
SmartGraft uses no scalpel and offers state-of-the-art, precision craftsmanship to give you a natural, full head of hair. It is a permanent solution to hair loss. This technique uses less time than any other follicle unit extraction procedure, and clients can return to work in one or two days and no one is the wiser.
How is a SmartGraft procedure done?
SmartGraft’s minimally-invasive technique removes hair follicles precisely. They are then counted, sorted, separated and moistened. The follicles are preserved and protected in an environmentally-controlled canister to insure viable implantation.
What steps shall I take to receive a SmartGraft hair restoration procedure?
- An initial consultation with a hair restoration physician comes first.
- The physician will note medical history and evaluate your scalp.
- A strategic plan for your needs will be recommended.
- Instructions will be given for you to prepare for the procedure date.
What happens on the day of the hair transplant?
Usually, a small area will be shaved at the back of your head. But, with our Shave-less approach you do not need to have any hair shaved off. We work around your existing hair to preserve the look of your hairstyle. Any area where grafts are to be implanted will be prepped and an anesthetic applied. The SmartGraft technology will be used to remove hair from an area on your head which has growth. Then the follicles will be sorted and stored in a sterile container. Grafts survive well this way and regrow vigorously for better results.
The implantation site is prepped and an anesthetic applied. Tiny openings like pin pricks will be made and the grafts implanted. This is a highly technical art, as the angle, placement and density of each tiny graft are crucial for a natural-appearing result.
On average, each SmartGraft hair transplant procedure takes five or six hours to complete. This will depend on how many grafts are needed to give desired results. When the procedure is finished, you will be advised to rest briefly. After a brief rest, you may go home.
How do I care for my SmartGraft hair restoration?
The physician will give you exact instructions on how to care for yourself and your newly transplanted hair. You will be able to wash your hair the day after the transplant, and be able to return to routine in a few days.
In the first weeks the transplants will take root and shed. Shedding is not a worry, it is a normal occurrence. New hair will begin to appear in about three months, be quite noticeable in six months and will be fully grown at 12 to 14 months.
Your new head of hair can be washed, styled and cared for exactly like it used to be.
